ADDICTION MEDICINE

Hashem Dadoush, MD

Dr. Dadoush graduated from Damascus Medical School in 1989. After working as a research fellow At Harvard Medical School, he completed a Masters in Public Health at Boston University and then started his postgraduate medical training in 1992 at Yale University.

In 1999, after getting his board certification in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine, Dr. Dadoush returned to Damascus, his hometown, where he was practicing Emergency Medicine.

In 2011, Dr. Dadoush and his family returned to Texas. He was chosen as the medical director of the ED at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, TX until 2014, when Dr. Dadoush and his family moved to Austin. It was in Austin that he started to get a special interest in substance use, and switched to practicing addiction medicine full-time in 2016, then got his board in Addiction Medicine in 2021.

In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors of Austin with his wife, and traveling.

James Koch, PA-C

James started his medical career in 1991 when he became an EMT. In 1994, he became a Licensed Paramedic and started his career at Austin Travis County EMS. He worked as a Special Operations Paramedic until 1999. In addition to working at ATCEMS, James was a volunteer Firefighter/Paramedic for Southeast Travis County for 13 years. After leaving ATCEMS, James started PA school at MCP Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, PA.

Upon graduation in 2001, James began his career working as a PA in family practice, in Lockhart, TX. James has worked in many specialties including Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Dermatology, and Pain Management. Most recently, James has worked for almost 4 years at an Inpatient Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation facility in Wimberley Texas. In addition, he has worked as a contracted employee at a variety of inpatient and detox facilities in Austin, Buda, and Canyon Lake.

James is single and has three living children. He lives in Southwest Austin and enjoys spending time outdoors, as well as hunting and fishing. He spends time reading, and watching movies, and enjoys a good dinner, along with time spent enjoying family and friends. James intends to start traveling more often and is interested in completing some medical mission trips in the future.

PSYCHIATRY, ADDICTION COUNSELING

Christina Vasquez, PMHNP-BC

Christina Vasquez is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who is also certified as an addiction nurse practitioner. She has over 20 years of combined experience assisting teens, adults, and seniors who are seeking help in coping with depression, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, trauma, and stress-related disorders.

Christina earned her Master's degree in Nursing and graduated Summa cum laude from Walden University. She also obtained her PhD in addiction counseling to better assist those who are dealing with a substance use disorder. Her goal is to help clients understand how to safely and effectively manage their disorder by offering evidence-based medication management, psychoeducation, support, and true empathetic care. Christina has the ability to empathize with patients while building a caring and therapeutic relationship. Christina utilizes a holistic approach and wants to help her patients achieve their best quality of life while reducing the stigma associated with mental health and substance use disorders.

Bethany Dalby, DO

Dr. Dalby grew up in Austin, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology. She attended medical school at The University of North Texas Health Science Center-TCOM and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dr. Dalby has been interested in Addiction medicine and substance abuse for a few years and has been working mainly in this field for the last 2 years.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time outside with her son, playing violin, yoga, swimming, trying new restaurants with friends, watching live music, and traveling to new places.
