What is Telehealth and Telemedicine?
In simple terms Telemedicine is the virtual practice of caring for patients without having the patient and the health provider be in the same room. You can consult your doctor from the comfort of your home.
Thanks to today’s technology, doctors and patients can interact in real time from different locations. This way of doing medicine is highly interactive, cost-effective, and requires minimal technological know-how. Don’t worry you don’t need an advanced degree in engineering or computer science to set up a telemedicine appointment.
Worried about not getting the same care?
Are you worried about not getting the same care you would from a face-to-face consultation?
Telemedicine is just as effective as a face-to-face consultation. Because this will be in real time and not a recording it will be like you are sitting in with the doctor. In addition, it comes with other advantages:
- Highly accessible
- Avoids traffic congestion
- Lessens the amount of time taken off work
How would it work?
There are a couple of options, but the simplest is a video call. The same way you would video call with family and friends. This can be a video call over FaceTime, Skype, Google Hangouts, etc.
We at Embracia would like to highlight this option to our patients because of the recent Corona Virus or CoVID-19. Telemedicine can be a great tool to utilize to be active in the prevention rather than reactive in the containment of Corona virus.
